    Beliau yang merupakan pekerja Dhaka City Corporation, terpaksa membaikipulih saliran pembentungan di bandar itu tanpa sebarang kelengkapan kerja yang betul dan mengabaikan langkah-langkah keselamatan diri. 

    Beliau seringkali terpaksa menggali di sekitar bawah tanah dengan hanya sebatang kayu panjang untuk membantunya. Malah, tiada topeng muka yang dipakai untuk melindungi mukanya dari terkena wap beracun yang terhasil dari kumbahan itu. 

    Selain itu, dia juga terpaksa menyungkit keluar cecair/najis dengan tangan kosong. Sesungguhnya tugas yang dilakukan pekerja ini amat sukar dan berat bagi memastikan saliran pembentungan di bandar itu lancar. 









    Dhaka mempunyai kepadatan penduduk sebanyak 14 juta dan baru-baru ini dilanda banjir besar disebabkan hujan lebat menyebabkan sistem salirannya tidak dapat menampung jumlah air hujan yang melebihi paras normal. 

    Walaupun jumlah kematian pekerja pembentungan meningkat, para pekerjanya masih tidak dibekalkan dengan peralatan yang mencukupi dan mereka perlu melakukan kerja-kerja kotor itu meskipun terpaksa mengadai nyawa sendiri. - The Reporter
